Race Report

RACE-4 THE TAISHAN RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1200 METRES (286)

1 Nam Kee's Treasure (W L Ho) –Shortly after the start was bumped by 6 Chapman Say.
2 Show Smart (R Maia) -Cast its right front plate during the event.
4 Ho Sai Lei (R Curatolo) –Was slow into stride and was then obliged to check and lost considerable ground.
6 Chapman Say (Y M Choi) –Jumped awkwardly outwards, shifted out abruptly and bumped 1 Nam Kee's Treasure despite the efforts of its rider to straighten his mount. Trainers C F Chan/K Seo was informed that a warning had been placed on the gelding for its racing manners and should it continue to race in this manner, further action may be taken.
7 Only Pearl (H Lam) –At the 650 metres was checked when 6 Chapman Say shifted in. The Stewards inquired into this incident.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
At a Stewards inquiry, Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 6 Chapman Say pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that at the 650 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 7 Only Pearl (H Lam) which had to be checked and lost ground. Jockey Y M Choi’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two racemeetings to cover the meetings of 17th and 24th June 2017 to run in concurrently with his prior suspension. In arriving at this decision, the Stewards took into account all the mitigating circumstances. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
