Race Report

RACE-3 THE PORTAS DO CERCO RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (3)

1 Stallion Elite (Apprentice C L Cheung) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Emperor King (W L Ho) -Was fractious in the barriers. Was then examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Performed below market expectations. When questioned, Jockey W L Ho stated that his mount travelled strongly in the run, however approaching the 400 metres his mount began to yield ground quickly and failed to run on in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainers C F Chan/K Seo were informed they would be required to present 2 Emperor King to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 24 September 2018 and will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
3 Mission Gdragon (H Lam) -Over raced in the middle stages.
6 Wealthy East (B Yamzon) -Raced wide rounding the home turn.
7 Casino Mok (W Smith) -Near the 400 metres had to be eased off the heels of 12 Northern Legend which shifted out to improve. Jockey R Maia the rider of 12 Northern Legend was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
10 Yings Fans (M Wepner) -Was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight had to shift in to avoid the heels of the tiring 2 Emperor King.
11 Autumn Cloud (K H Yu) -Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 300 metres had to be steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of 8 Ready Fire which shifted in slightly. When questioned regarding his vigor in the home straight, Jockey K H Yu explained that on entering the home straight he attempted a run to the inside of 8 Ready Fire however was disappointed for that run when 8 Ready Fire shifted in slightly. He then explained he was unable to establish clear running between 14 Heng Feng Star and 8 Ready Fire until approximately the 100 metres where he then used the whip down the shoulder of the gelding and rode his mount out hands and heels to the finish of the race. After considering all of the circumstances and after viewing all of the patrol footage the Stewards noted his explanation however advised him to ensure that he rides all his mounts with sufficient purpose and in a manner which leaves no room for query.
13 Lover Paradise (K Leung) -Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout.
