Race Report

RACE-2 THE OAMARU RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1200 METRES (38)

1 Winner Fortune (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
3 Beat The Market (W L Ho) -Was slow to begin and was tightened for room shortly after the start between 7 Poker King and 4 Fully Realised which was taken out by 11 Leader All The Way which was in turn taken out by 13 Pearl Delight which shifted out.
4 Fully Realised (B Yamzon) -Was checked after the start when tightened for room between 7 Poker King and 11 Leader All The Way which was taken out by 13 Pearl Delight which shifted out. Jockey F Henrique the rider of 13 Pearl Delight was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Near the 700 metres over raced and was steadied off the heels of 2 Qipao Queen.
6 Infinite Treasure (L Corrales) -Rider reported he had to ride his mount hard in the early stage to obtain a handy position and in his opinion this contributed to the gelding tiring over the final 200 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 River Colour (K H Yu) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that he would be required to present 9 River Colour for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 28th October 2018.
11 Leader All The Way (S Nakano) -Was unable to establish clear running until near the 150 metres. When questioned regarding his vigor in the home straight, Jockey S Nakano stated that on entering the home straight he was unable to establish a clear run immediately due to the number of runners directly in front of him. He further stated he rode his mount hands and heels while applying the whip down the right shoulder of the gelding until he was able to obtain a clear run near the 150 metres. He added as soon as he established clear running he was then able to place his mount under full pressure where his mount ran on strongly. After reviewing the patrol films and considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action.
12 St Trump (W Smith) -Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout.
13 Pearl Delight (F Henrique) -Jockey F Henrique was fined the sum HKD$1000 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
14 Zhuhai Star (K K Lai) -Stable representative W Heffernan advised the Stewards that they would be instructing Jockey K K Lai from the wide draw to restrain his mount from the start and obtain a position closer to the running rail in an attempt to allow the gelding to finish its race off.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident shortly after the start. Evidence was taken from Jockey W L Ho (rider of 3 Beat The Market), Jockey B Yamzon (rider of 4 Fully Realised), Jockey R Maia (rider of 7 Poker King), Jockey S Nakano (rider of 11 Leader All The Way) and Jockey F Henrique (rider of 13 Pearl Delight). After considering all the circumstances the Stewards took no further action other than to advise jockey F Henrique to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
