Race Report

RACE-1 THE DONCASTER RATING 45-0 (CLASS 4&5) 1200 METRES (115)

2 Fortune Flyer (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Shortly after the start raced greenly and shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of 1 Tremendous Wins which shifted in slightly.
3 Best Jade Wan Zai (R Maia) -Leaving the 400 metres shifted out to improve and bumped 5 Star's Partners. A post race swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Star's Partners (W L Ho) -Raced wide without cover throughout. Leaving the 400 metres was bumped by 3 Best Jade Wan Zai which shifted out to improve. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was making abnormal respiratory noises. Trainer Pat Lee was informed that he would be required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 14 January 2019.
6 Filial Piety (B Yamzon) -Bumped with 7 Glory Top on jumping away.
7 Glory Top (L Corrales) - Bumped with 6 Filial Piety on jumping away. Raced greenly throughout. Beaten in excess of 65 lengths. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer M C Tam was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
9 Algonquin Park (H Lam) -Bumped by 4 Rainbow Achievers on jumping away.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
“Correct Weight” was delayed when the Stewards considered an objection lodged by Apprentice Jockey C L Cheung the rider of 2 Fortune Flyer (2nd placegetter) against 1 Tremendous Wins (W Smith) being declared the winner, alleging interference shortly after the start. Evidence was taken from both riders in the presence of their respective trainers Mr. K M Chin and Mr. Y C Fung. After reviewing the official patrol film and considering the evidence, it was established that shortly after the start 2 Fortune Flyer raced greenly and shifted out of its own accord and near the 1150 metres continued to shift out and was steadied off the heels of 1 Tremendous Wins which shifted in slightly. As the Stewards were satisfied that the racing manners of 2 Fortune Flyer had contributed to the incident, the Stewards dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored by the judge.
