Race Report

RACE-6 THE SANTO ANDRE RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1050 METRES (237)

1 Diamond Kid (K K Lai) -Suffered a bleeding attack. Trainer K S Wong was informed that the standard stand down period applies and 1 Diamond Kid will not be permitted to race again before it has performed in an official Barrier Trial and a veterinary certificate is produced.
3 Star's Partners (W L Ho) -Bumped by 11 River Commander on jumping away. A post race swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer Pat Lee was informed that 3 Star's Partners will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary certificate is produced.
4 Diva Achiever (F Henrique) -Raced wide rounding the home turn.
5 Grexit (W Smith) -Near the 700 metres raced fiercely for a short distance.
7 Danny Choice (L Corrales) -Fractious in the barriers. Was subsequently taken out of its barrier, underwent a veterinary examination and passed fit to race. Raced wide without cover throughout. Was checked near the 250 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Rider reported that the gelding was making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer K S Wong was informed that that he would be required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 13 May 2019.
10 Roaring Fans (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Apprentice C L Cheung was issued a fine of HKD1000 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the finish line.
11 River Commander (Y M Choi) -Bumped with 3 Star's Partners on jumping away.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident where 7 Danny Choice was checked near the 250 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 5 Grexit (W Smith), 7 Danny Choice (L Corrales) and 9 Beauty Shine (S Ladjadj). Jockey W Smith the rider of 5 Grexit pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 250 metres, he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of 7 Danny Choice which had to be checked. Jockey W Smith’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 race meetings covering the meetings of 29th June and 6th July 2019. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account Jockey Smith’s guilty plea, the degree of the interference and his riding record. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
