Race Report

RACE-2 THE DATONG RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1500 METRES (243)

1 The Macallan (W L Ho) -Raced fiercely in the middle stages. Leaving the 200 metres had a tendency to lay out under pressure.
6 Magnapegasus (C F Chan) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 We Want Cash (W Smith) -Prior to the race Trainer P Leyshan advised the Stewards he would be instructing Jockey W Smith to have the horse in a rearward position should circumstances permit in an attempt to get the horse to finish its race off. Tightened for room on jumping away between 5 Chromium Alloy and 8 Eclair Hunter which was taken out slightly by 4 Wonder Holy. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Eclair Hunter (T Appie) -Near the 700 metres momentarily raced in restricted room to the inside of 3 Fortune Generation which when racing tight to the inside of 4 Wonder Holy shifted in slightly.
11 Sportsmanship (R Maia) -Raced wide without cover until near the 500 metres. Near the 200 metres was eased away from the heels of 1 The Macallan which shifted out to improve. Jockey W L Ho the rider of 1 The Macallan was issued with a severe reprimand and was advised that he is to ensure that he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times.
12 Bring Me Glory (S Ladjadj) -Leaving the 800 metres raced in restricted room for some distance between 1 The Macallan which when the tempo of the race slowed, over raced onto the heels of 8 Eclair Hunter and shifted out slightly and 11 Sportsmanship which when improving wider on the track shifted in. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards could not attribute blame to any one rider and took no further action, other than to inform all riders concerned to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. Over the concluding stages was momentarily inconvenienced by 1 The Macallan which had a tendency to lay out under pressure.
