Race Report
RACE-1 THE NORFOLK MAIDEN 1200 METRES (230)

Master Of Mars (W L Ho) -Over the final 50 metres had a tendency to hang in under pressure and over the concluding stages shifted in and bumped 7 Ocean Warrior which became unbalanced. As a result 3 Master Of Mars was unable to be ridden out fully due to Jockey W L Ho the rider of 3 Master Of Mars having to correct his mount. After considering all of the circumstances, Jockey W L Ho the rider of 3 Master Of Mars was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
Cherry Road (F Henrique) -Proved difficult to load delaying the start. Trainer K M Chin was informed that 4 Cherry Road will not be permitted to race again until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. Raced wide without cover throughout.
Cordyceps King (B Yamzon) -Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
Turquoise Success (M Tanaka) -Leaving the 1000 metres commenced to race fiercely and then leaving the 900 metres when continuing to race fiercely had to be steadied away from the heels of 13 Dare To Be which shifted out slightly when inclined to lay out. As a result 8 Turquoise Success was taken outwards and made contact with 4 Cherry Road. Near the 150 metres was bumped by 7 Ocean Warrior which was taken out by 2 Golden Wins which shifted out under pressure. As a result 8 Turquoise Success shifted out and made contact with 3 Master Of Mars and a short distance later momentarily raced in restricted room and had to be eased away from the heels of 3 Master Of Mars which was inclined to lay in and 7 Ocean Warrior which when racing greenly shifted out. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey K H Yu the rider of 2 Golden Wins with a severe reprimand and advised him that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts.
The Prime Side (J B Hamel) -Was resaddled behind the barriers. Cast its left front plate during the run.
Fortune Wai Wai (W H Lao) -Hampered on jumping away by 7 Ocean Warrior which shifted in.
Golden Bullseye (S Ladjadj) -Hampered shortly after the start by 14 Mr Half Lamma which was taken out by 13 Dare To Be which hung out and 10 Fortune Wai Wai which was taken in by 7 Ocean Warrior which shifted in. The Stewards questioned Jockey S Ladjadj regarding the tactics he adopted in the early stages on 11 Golden Bullseye, in particular the reason leaving the 1000 metres where he shifted his mount wider on the track resulting 11 Golden Bullseye racing wide for the majority of the race. Jockey S Ladjadj stated that this was the first time he had ridden the gelding in a race and was instructed that as the distance maybe too short he was to ensure that he was in a position where 11 Golden Bullseye could improve into the race with ample room. He added in the early stages his mount raced greenly and leaving the 1000 metres he shifted 11 Golden Bullseye wider on the track to improve, then near the 800 his mount continued to race greenly and made the turn awkward and added at the same time he was stuck by a clod to his head which initially stunned him. He further added that from the 600 metres his mount did not improve into the race as he had expected, so elected to save ground rounding the turn by shifting inwards towards the running rail. He also reported that in the home straight 11 Golden Bullseye did not respond to his riding and was disappointing. After considering all of the circumstances, whilst the Stewards had concerns with the tactics adopted in the early stages, they did not believe that the actions of Jockey S Ladjadj were blame worthy under the rules, however advised him that in future he is to ensure that he rides his mounts in a manner that leaves no room for query.
Dare To Be (Y M Choi) -Was resaddled behind the barriers. Jumped away awkwardly and hung out. Trainer S Chow was informed that a warning had been placed against 13 Dare To Be for its barrier manners. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
Mr Half Lamma (T Appie) -Jumped away awkwardly and was then tightened for room between 13 Dare To Be which hung out and 11 Golden Bullseye which was taken in by 10 Fortune Wai Wai which in turn was taken in by 7 Ocean Warrior which shifted in. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action other than to place a warning on 13 Dare To Be for its barrier manners.
