Stipendiary Stewards Inquiry - Jockey S Nakano

RACE-5 THE HUPEI RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1500 METRES (131)

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1300 metres whereby 3 Autumn Cloud (R Maia) had to be checked and 2 Techfaith Warrior (W Smith) was steadied. Evidence was taken from Jockeys W Smith the rider of 2 Techfaith Warrior, R Maia the rider of 3 Autumn Cloud and S Nakano the rider of 7 Thunder Bear. Jockey S Nakano the rider of 7 Thunder Bear pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 1300 metres he allowed 7 Thunder Bear to shifted in sharply when insufficiently clear of 3 Autumn Cloud which had to be checked, got its head up, shifted in and tightened the running of 2 Techfaith Warrior which had to be steadied. Jockey S Nakano’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of 3 February 2019. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
