Stipendiary Stewards Inquiry - Jockey S Nakano

Sunday, 13th October 2019 – 7th Race Meeting

RACE-3 THE ALMEIDA RIBEIRO RATING 70+ (CLASS 1&2) 1500 METRES (39)

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident near the 100 metres whereby 2 Sacred Capital had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 2 Sacred Capital (W L Ho), 8 Eclair Sunshine (S Nakano) and 4 Kelowna Star (F Henrique). Jockey S Nakano the rider of Eclair Sunshine pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 100 metres when using the whip, he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent 8 Eclair Sunshine from shifting out when insufficiently clear of 2 Sacred Capital which had to be checked and lost significant ground. Jockey S Nakano’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 racemeetings covering the meetings of Sunday, 10 November & Friday, 15 November 2019. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his riding record, the racing manners of his mount at the point of the incident and the degree of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
