RACEMEETING: SUNDAY 23 AUGUST 2020

Race 4: BRING ME SPEED: Approaching the 800 metres was checked and made contact with the running rail.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards today inquired into a racing incident approaching the 800 metres where 4 BRING ME SPEED was checked and made contact with the running rail. Evidence was taken from the riders of 4 BRING ME SPEED (L Corrales) and 1 SACRED CAPITAL (W L Ho). Jockey W L Ho pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that approaching the 800 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in when insufficiently clear of 4 BRING ME SPEED which had to be checked, made contact with the running rail and lost its rightful running. Jockey W L Ho’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of two racemeetings covering the meetings of 7^th and 13^th November 2020. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his riding record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his rights of appeal.
