The Macau Jockey Club is committed to providing Horse Owners, Members and racegoers with high-quality racing experience. The first major renovation project this season is the replacement of the LED screen and the upgrading of the audio and visual systems which started in August and the trial operation will be carried out on Sunday, 2 January 2022. This multi-million dollar project took five months to complete. This LED screen may be the largest outdoor screen in the history of Macau.
The new LED screen is 80 meters wide and has a height of 8 meters. The LED screen has a higher resolution, and can present detailed images that will provide audiences with a greater visual experience. The new LED screen will not only display usual information such as Quinella and Quinella place odds, Win odds, payouts, total turnover, it will also provide useful horse racing statistics about runners. Additional camera angles will also be added to give audiences a different perspective of a race in real time.
The replacement of LED screens will provide enhanced optics for racegoers. The core equipment for audio and visual systems operations in the entire broadcasting system also occupies an important position. The new system adopts full digital high-definition specifications, with a resolution of up to 1920X1080, which is a requirement by the broadcasting industry to provide new visual sensory enjoyment for viewers watching live horse racing programs.
The Club and the suppliers have faced unprecedented challenges from the onset for completion of this project, but have overcome every obstacle. For example during the LED screen replacement project, the Club had to ensure that the horse racing broadcast during this event was unaffected and that normal operations continued even as new screens were being assembled and old elements were being dismantled, causing no disruption to racing fans and clubs race day operations. In addition, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the related equipment, personnel and transportation relevant to the project were also affected in some manner. Unstable weather also caused some delays.
The brand-new LED screen and Audio and Visual system will bring a whole new experience to the racing fans. The Club is committed to providing Horse Owners, Members, tourists and racegoers with more diversified and premium services. These projects can further strengthen Macau’s diversified industry and attract more tourists to enjoy Macau horse racing.
