RACE-2 THE DUISBURG RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1500 METRES (189)

1 River Double (Y M Choi) -Bumped by 11 Highspot on jumping away and then shifted out bumping 7 Easy Thai. Was held rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
3 Chins Delight (F Henrique) -Steadied near the 1300 metres when tightened for room between 6 Taolu Expert which shifted out slightly and 11 Highspot which was taken in slightly by 7 Easy Thai. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards could not attribute blame to any one rider, took no further action other than to advise all riders to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Raced wide without cover leaving the 600 metres.
5 Together Happy (K K Lai) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Easy Thai (L Corrales) -Checked near the 1300 metres. A post race swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Hey Hey Companion (J Pescuiso) -Stood flat footed as the start was effected and refused to jump. Trainer M C Tam was informed that 9 Hey Hey Companion will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
10 Happy Encore (B Yamzon) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
11 Highspot (K Leung) -Jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped 1 River Double. Checked near the 1300 metres. Raced fiercely in the middle stages. Rounding the home turn was held up and near the 300 metres had to shift around the heels of 10 Happy Encore to improve.
13 Fort Idaho (M Wepner) -Raced fiercely in the early stages.
14 Go Go Fish (H Lam) -Rider reported that his mount did not feel comfortable in today’s going and dipped on a number of occasions leaving the 600 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race the “Enquiry Sign” was semaphored to allow the Stewards an opportunity to reviewed the patrol film of the start to ascertain whether 9 Hey Hey Companion (J Pescuiso) had been afford a fair start. It was established that as the start was effected 9 Hey Hey Companion stood flat footed of its own accord and refused to jump. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards were satisfied that 9 Hey Hey Companion had been afforded fair start and as such declared correct weight.

The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1250 metres where 11 Highspot and 7 Easy Thai had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of horses 2 Prosperity Star (S Nakano), 3 Chins Delight (F Henrique), 6 Taolu Expert (W L Ho), 7 Easy Thai (L Corrales) and 11 Highspot (K Leung). Jockey S Nakano the rider of 2 Prosperity Star pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) for careless riding in that at the 1250 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear resulting in 11 Highspot and 7 Easy Thai being crowded for room between 6 Taolu Expert and 2 Prosperity Star and had to be checked. Jockey S Nakano’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 1 racemeeting, covering the meeting of Saturday, 20 April 2019. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his record, the degree of carelessness and the racing manners of his horse. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
