RACE-4 THE SALISBURY RATING 70-45 (CLASS 3) 1050 METRES (22)

1 Vescer (S H Huang) -Was inclined to hang in under pressure in the home straight and leaving the 250 metres rider became unbalanced in the saddle when attempting to pull the whip through to his right hand.
2 Desi Style (L Corrales) -For some distance leaving the 800 metres until near the 650 metres buffeted with 6 Sheng Tong Star and became unbalanced when that runner shifted out to attempt to take a run between 1 Vescer and 2 Desi Style where there was insufficient room to do so. Jockey K H Yu the rider 6 Sheng Tong Star was issued a severe reprimand. Was held up rounding the home turn. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Sport Genius (S Nakano) -Was slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Luen On Prosperity (J B Hamel) -Bumped with 10 Colonel Mordaunt on jumping away.
6 Sheng Tong Star (K H Yu) -Approaching the 800 metres shifted out and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 1 Vescer. Leaving the 800 metres shifted out in an attempt to take a run between 1 Vescer and 2 Desi Style where there was insufficient room and in doing so buffeted with 2 Desi Style until near the 650 metres where it was checked. In the early stages of the home straight had some difficulty obtaining clear running. Rider reported that as the inside section of the track was inferior, he was instructed to obtain a position off the running rail to avoid the kickback.
7 Circuit Master (B Yamzon) -Rounding the home turn shifted out slightly and had to be eased away from the heels of 5 Luen On Prosperity.
8 Everlasting Praise (M Tanaka) -Underwent a veterinary examination after being fractious in the parade ring and was subsequently passed fit to race. Prior to leaving the parade ring had to be reshod. After arriving at the barriers, underwent a further veterinary examination and was passed fit to race. Trainer K M Chin was informed that in view of the pre race manners of 8 Everlasting Praise, the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. Was marginally slow to begin.
10 Colonel Mordaunt (T Appie) -Bumped with 5 Luen On Prosperity on jumping away.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY
The Stewards inquired into an incident from leaving the 800 metres until near the 650 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 1 Vescer (S H Huang), 2 Desi Style (L Corrales) and 6 Sheng Tong Star (K H Yu). It was established that leaving the 800 metres 6 Sheng Tong Star shifted out in an attempt to take a run between 1 Vescer and 2 Desi Style where there was insufficient room to do so and for some distance thereafter buffeted 2 Desi Style, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced until near the 650 metres where 6 Sheng Tong Star was checked between 2 Desi Style and 1 Vescer which shifted out slightly. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey K H Yu the rider of 6 Sheng Tong Star a severe reprimand in that leaving the 800 metres he shifted out to take a run between 1 Vescer and 2 Desi Style where there was insufficient room to do so.
