Hoi Kuok Cheung who joined the Macau Jockey Club at the age of 17 was amongst the first batch of locally trained apprentices who graduated from the MJC Riding School in the same year as Peter Lao, Cheung Kwong Ming and the late Johnny Yeung. At 25yrs, having scored his 100th winner, Hoi decided to hang up his boots in June 1998 and take up an assistant trainers position. He has worked alongside a number of trainers, including K C Wong, D Thompson, Joe Barnes, P C Choi, G Benson, K Y Tse and Alan Leung. He was granted a full trainer’s license for the 2006/07 Racing Season.
