Race Report

RACE-6 THE BEIJING RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1350 METRES (223)

2 Brave Rhino (W H Lao) –Raced keenly through the middle stages.
3 Inventive (L Salles) –Was eased down from the 100 metres by its rider. Trainer G Allendorf was informed to present the gelding to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 10th April 2016.
5 Cali Champion (C F Wong) – Disappointing performance. Rider reported that his mount travelled well throughout out, however did not finish off the race as expected. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Easy Money (W L Ho) –Near the 1100 metres had to be steadied when tightened for room by 10 Perfect Alloy which shifted in when not quite clear. Jockey H Lam the rider of 10 Perfect Alloy was advised that he must be clear when shifting ground at all times. Thereafter 6 Easy Money over raced badly in the middle stages.
7 Vigormaster (Y M Choi) –Threw its head down as the gates were released, shifted out abruptly and lost ground.
10 Perfect Alloy (H Lam) -Disappointing performance. Rider reported that he was instructed to lead, however did not have early speed and in the straight failed to respond to his riding. He could not offer any other explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. A swab sample was taken for analysis.
12 My Dream (J Cordero) – Was marginally slow to begin and then bumped by 11 Ashkari which shifted out, as a result lost ground.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 7 Vigormaster pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (iii) for failing to ride his mount to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars being:- i) that from the 1000 metres until the 600 metres, when some lengths off the main body of the field, he failed to make sufficient effort to place his mount under pressure in an attempt to improve his position, when at all times there was the opportunity to do so. This resulted in his mount losing further ground;
ii) from the 600 metres until the 300 metres failed to use sufficient vigour in an attempt to improve his position, thereby failing to ride his mount to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
Jockey Y M Choi’s licence to ride was suspended for a period of six racemeetings. The suspension shall take effect after the racemeeting on Sunday, 17th April 2016 and expire at midnight on Saturday, 21st May 2016. He was advised of his Right of Appeal. In arriving a penalty the Stewards took into account all mitigating circumstances, Jockey Y M Choi’s guilty plea and his good record.
