RACE-5 THE BURY RATING 95-70 (CLASS 1&2) 1510 METRES (24)

2 Best Of Luck (R Maia) -At the 150 metres had to be steadied when the riderless 12 Winter Snow shifted out and took its running.
4 Turquoise Power (J Pescuiso) - Passing the winning post on the first occasion, was severely inconvenienced by the riderless 12 Winter Snow and lost ground.
5 The Whirlwind (B Yamzon) - Passing the winning post on the first occasion, was severely inconvenienced by the riderless 12 Winter Snow and lost ground.
6 Grand Double Win (W L Ho) - A swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Eclair Journey (L Corrales) -Passing the winning post on the first occasion, was severely inconvenienced by the riderless 12 Winter Snow and lost ground.
12 Winter Snow (A Calder) -Prior to the start became fractious in the barriers and the rider got his leg trapped between his mount and the barrier. He then called for assistance from the barrier staff to free his leg and was then dismounted from 12 Winter Snow which continued to be fractious. Shortly after the start was effected before Jockey Calder had remounted. Stewards inquiry. Passing the winning post on the first occasion the riderless 12 Winter Snow shifted in and caused severe inconvenience to 4 Turquoise Power, 5 The Whirlwind, and 8 Eclair Journey. Trainer K S Wong was informed that due to the unsatisfactory barrier manners of 12 Winter Snow it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards to ascertain whether 12 Winter Snow (A Calder) had been afforded a fair start. Evidence was taken from Jockey A Calder the rider of 12 Winter Snow and the Starter Mr. W K Lei. After reviewing the official patrol film and considering all the evidence, it was established that when the start was effected 12 Winter Snow which was very fractious was riderless. The Stewards acting under MJC Rule 28 (ix) (b) declared 12 Winter Snow a non starter as the start had been effected while 12 Winter Snow was riderless and ordered all monies wagered on 12 Winter Snow to be refunded.
The Stewards will conduct an inquiry into this matter at a date and time to be fixed.
