RACE-7 THE GOOD FORTUNE RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1350 METRES (140)
1 Lucky Mate (C F Chan) -At the 1250 metres was crowded by 10 Surdmaster. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Grateful Favors (M Nunes) -At the 50 metres steadied when crowded by 9 Altered. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Silver Baby (L Corrales) -At the 750 metres was checked and lost ground. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Prosperity Star (H Lam) -Was examined behind the barriers by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race.
7 Mackinac Island (K H Yu) -At the 750 metres shifted in and took 12 Anak in onto 4 Silver Baby. Stewards inquiry.
9 Altered (M Wepner) - At the 1200 metres was crowded between 3 Grateful Favors and 5 Destney. At the 50 metres shifted in and crowded 3 Grateful Favors. Jockey Wepner was issued a reprimand and told to exercise more care in future.
10 Surdmaster (W Smith) -At the 1250 metres shifted in, resulting in 1 Lucky Mate being crowded. Jockey W Smith was informed to take more care when shifting ground in future.
12 Anak (Apprentice K Leung) -At the 750 metres was checked when taken in onto 4 Silver Baby by 7 Mackinac Island.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey K H Yu the rider of 7 Mackinac Island pleaded to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that at the 750 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when sufficiently clear and took 12 Anak in onto 4 Silver Baby, resulting in both horses having to check and losing ground.
Jockey K H Yu’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 1 racemeeting to cover the meeting of Saturday, 10th March 2018. In arriving at this decision the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his record and the degree of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
