RACE-2 THE NAGOYA RATING 60-30 (CLASS 3&4) 1800 METRES (203)

1 Basement (O Chavez) - When questioned Trainer C S Lau said that he could see no speed in tonight’s race and as such instructed Jockey O Chavez to ride the horse forcefully forward, in contrast to the way the horse was ridden at its previous six starts where it had been ridden back in the field. The Stewards noted Trainer Lau’s explanation, however he was told that he is to ensure that he informs the Stewards of any major change of tactics in future, failure do so may lead to further action being taken.
2 Off The Bench (L Corrales) -Jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped 8 Superlative Choice onto 3 Yang Jiang Star. At approximately 50 metres after the start was bumped outwards by 7 Victory Achiever onto 8 Superlative Choice and became unbalanced losing ground. At the 1100 metre turn was taken wide by 3 Yang Jiang Star which had shifted out to avoid the riderless 9 My Fortune Star.
3 Yang Jiang Star (W L Ho) -Bumped by 8 Superlative Choice at the start which was carried out by 2 Off The Bench which jumped awkwardly outwards. At the 1100 metre turn shifted out to avoid the riderless 9 My Fortune Star and in doing so took 5 River God Choi and 2 Off The Bench wide. At the 1200 metres was crowded by the riderless 9 My Fortune Star and was steadied. A swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 River God Choi (W Smith) -At the 1100 metre turn was taken wide by 3 Yang Jiang Star which had shifted out to avoid the riderless 9 My Fortune Star.
6 Double Hill Spirit (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Was struck on the heels by 9 My Fortune Star which shifted out. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

7 Victory Achiever (K K Lai) -At approximately 50 metres after the start shifted out and bumped 2 Off The Bench onto 8 Superlative Choice and became unbalanced and lost ground. At the 1500 metre turn was crowded onto the running rail.
8 Superlative Choice (F Henrique) -Was bumped onto 3 Yang Jiang Star at the start when 2 Off The Bench jumped awkwardly outwards. At approximately 50 metres after the start was bumped by 2 Off The Bench when 7 Victory Achiever shifted out. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 My Fortune Star (J Pescuiso) -At the 1500 metre turn shifted in and crowded 3 Yang Jiang Star onto 8 Superlative Choice, which in turn crowded 7 Victory Achiever onto the running rail. Thereafter became unbalanced, shifted out and struck the heels of 6 Double Hill Spirit resulting in its rider Jockey J Pescuiso being dislodged and sustaining an injury to his right shoulder. Jockey J Pescuiso was severely reprimand for allowing his mount to shift in at the 1500 metre turn and was told that he would be expected to make a greater effort to straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future.
