Race Report

RACE-3 GRAND LISBOA CUP RATING 70-40 (CLASS 2&3) 1800 METRES (171)

2 Magnapegasus (W L Ho) -Leaving the winning post on the first occasion raced ungenerously and and shifted out forcing 12 Pearl Win Win wider on the track. Leaving the 200 metres had to be checked away from the heels of 5 Bring Me Glory which shifted out. Rider reported that his mount was unbalanced throughout the race and did not appreciate today’s track conditions.
3 Casino Mok (M Nunes) -Was resaddled behind the barriers. A post race swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Lucky Today (M Chadwick) -Near the 100 metres had to be checked away from the heels of 5 Bring Me Glory which shifted out . A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Hyshem (B Yamzon) -Bumped with 7 Off The Bench on jumping away. Leaving the 400 metres brushed with 12 Pearl Win Win.
7 Off The Bench (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Bumped with 6 Hyshem on jumping away.
10 Roaring Star (F Henrique) -Near the 900 metres raced up onto the heels of 13 Yang Jiang Star and had to be steadied. Raced wide without cover leaving the 700 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Sixth Sense (W Smith) -Raced wide without cover leaving the 1200 metres.
12 Pearl Win Win (H Lam) -Passing the winning post on the first occasion was forced wider on the track by 2 Magnapegasus which shifted out. Leaving the 400 metres was brushed by 6 Hyshem which shifted out slightly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
13 Yang Jiang Star (K K Lai) -Raced fiercely in the early stages.
14 Thunder Bear (Y M Choi) -Was held up rounding the home turn.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the incident leaving the 200 metres where 2 Magnapegasus and 4 Lucky Today both had to be checked. Evidence was taken from Jockey W L Ho the rider of 2 Magnapegasus, Jockey M Chadwick the rider of 4 Lucky Today and Jockey K Leung the rider of 5 Bring Me Glory. Jockey K Leung pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 200 metres he permitted his mount 5 Bring Me Glory to shift out under riding when insufficiently clear of 2 Magnapegasus which had to be checked and continued to permit his mount to shift out under riding resulting in 4 Lucky Today having to be checked near the 100 metres. Jockey K Leung’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of Friday, 15 March 2019. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his riding record and the degree of carelessness. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
