Race Report

RACE-4 THE GUATEMALA RATING 70-40 (CLASS 2&3) 1800 METRES (368)

2 The Macallan (W L Ho) -Rider reported his mount blundered on a number of occasions throughout the race and in his opinion failed to handle the heavy track conditions today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Sportsmanship (R Maia) -Was brushed by 7 Magnapegasus on jumping away. Passing the winning post on the first occasion checked, clipped the heels of 7 Magnapegasus with jockey R Maia losing the use of both of his stirrup irons which he was able to regain at approximately the 1400 metres. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was severely lame in the left foreleg. Trainer K H Leong was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has pass an official Barrier Trial and a veterinary clearance is produced.
7 Magnapegasus (C F Chan) -Brushed 5 Sportsmanship on jumping away.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident where 5 Sportsmanship was checked passing the winning post on the first occasion. Evidence was taken from the riders of 2 The Macallan (W L Ho), 3 Superlative Choice (K Mizuno), 6 Hyshem (F Henrique), 7 Magnapegasus (C F Chan) and 5 Sportsmanship (R Maia). Jockey K Mizuno the rider of 3 Superlative Choice pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 6 Hyshem which was taken in onto 7 Magnapegasus which in turn was taken in onto 5 Sportsmanship which had to be checked, clipped the heels of 7 Magnapegasus, blundered resulting in Jockey R Maia losing the use of both of his stirrup irons. Jockey K Mizuno’s license to ride in races was suspended for the period from Sunday, 22 September and up to and including midnight of Sunday, 29 of September 2019 (two Macau racemeetings). In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his riding record, the degree of interference which was found to be in the high range and today’s heavy track conditions. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
