Race Report

RACE-6 THE BARRA RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1350 METRES (376)

4 Premier Choice (K Mizuno) -Had to be checked near the 1200 metres. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight and leaving the 100 metres lay in and was awkwardly placed on the heels of 1 Danny Choice. A short distance later was then hampered between 1 Danny Choice which shifted out slightly and 5 Dream Achiever which shifted in slightly away from 10 River Double which had shifted in slightly when improving quickly to the outside of 5 Dream Achiever. After considering all of the circumstances the Stewards could not portion blame to any one rider and took no further action.
5 Dream Achiever (L Corrales) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
7 Go Go Mission (Y M Choi) -Was slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer Pat Lee was informed that 7 Go Go Mission will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time a veterinary clearance is produced. In addition Trainer Pat Lee was informed that he would be required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 25 August 2019
9 Full Score (S Nakano) -When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of 9 Full Score, Trainer K H Leong was unable to offer any tangible explanation other than that the gelding had failed to handle the heavy track conditions at its most recent start and that 9 Full Score had been placed over today’s course and distance twice previously. The Stewards noted his explanation.
10 River Double (K K Lai) -Jumped away awkwardly.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident whereby by 4 Premier Choice was checked near the 1200 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 1 Danny Choice (S Ladjadj), 3 Fortune Fast (F Henrique), 4 Premier Choice (K Mizuno) and 9 Full Score (S Nakano). Jockey S Ladjadj the rider of 1 Danny Choice pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 1200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 3 Fortune Fast which in turn was taken in onto 4 Premier Choice which had to be checked. Jockey S Ladjadj was suspended from riding in races for one racemeeting being Friday, 4 October 2019. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his riding record and that the degree of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
