Race Report

RACE-2 THE BEVERLEY RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1510 METRES (8)

1 Eastern Paradise (O Chavez) -Raced fiercely in the early stages. Leaving the 1200 metres commenced to hang out and on entering the back straight hung out across the heels of 6 Greatest Prodigy and had to be steadied. Raced wide without cover leaving the 500 metres and had tendency to lay out rounding the home turn.
2 Ares Spear (L Corrales) -On entering the home straight was brushed by 5 Denzil's Choice which was taken in by 3 Tavezbac which shifted in slightly.
3 Tavezbac (J B Hamel) -Jumped away very awkwardly and shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.
4 Bada Baby (C F Chan) -Was checked on jumping away between 6 Greatest Prodigy and 3 Tavezbac which after jumping away very awkwardly, shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. As the Stewards could not portion blame on Jockey J B Hamel the rider of 3 Tavezbac, they took no further action other than to inform Trainer K M Chin that a warning had been placed against 3 Tavezbac for its barrier manners. Trainer K S Wong was informed that 4 Bada Baby which had been beaten in excess of 33 lengths will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
6 Greatest Prodigy (T Appie) -Had its hindquarters bumped by 4 Bada Baby on jumping away.
8 Fifty Flags (K H Yu) -Near the 1200 metres when the pace of the race slowed had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 1 Eastern Paradise. On entering the home straight bumped with 10 Ashkari. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
9 Acing Pro (Y M Choi) - Trainer M C Tam was informed that 9 Acing Pro which had been beaten in excess of 32 lengths will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
10 Ashkari (F Henrique) -Became fractious in the barriers, was subsequently unloaded, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon. Bumped with 8 Fifty Flags on entering the home straight. Trainer P Leyshan was informed that a warning had been placed on 10 Ashkari for its barrier manners.
11 My Dream (K K Lai) -In the home straight hung in under pressure proving difficult to ride out. Rider reported that his mount did not feel comfortable in its action throughout the race and raced wayward under pressure. Trainer S H Cheong was informed to present 11 My Dream to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 14 September 2019.
12 Military Super (S Nakano) -Had to be checked near the 600 metres. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that 12 Military Super which had been beaten in excess of 28 lengths will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident whereby 12 Military Super was checked near the 600 metres. Evidence was taken from the rider of 6 Greatest Prodigy (T Appie), 8 Fifty Flags (K H Yu) and 12 Military Super (S Nakano). Jockey T Appie the rider of 6 Greatest Prodigy pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 600 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting out when insufficiently clear of 12 Military Super which had to be checked. Jockey T Appie’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of Sunday, 13 October 2019. The Stewards on arriving at penalty took into account Jockey T Appie’s guilty plea, his riding record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
