Race Report

RACE-5 THE THIRSK RATING 35-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1200 METRES (71)

1 Fully Realised (R Maia) -Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in. Thereafter raced wide with cover throughout.
4 Ventures Raiders (L Corrales) -Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Game Of Dreams (J B Hamel) -Raced fiercely in the middle stages. A post race swab was taken for analysis. Jockey J B Hamel was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the performance of 6 Game Of Dreams other than his mount over raced in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 River Rich (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Leaving the 900 metres was checked. Near the 50 metres had to be eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of 3 Superb Shooter.
9 Cookson (B Yamzon) -Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer Pat Lee was informed that in view of the gelding’s barrier manners it will not be permitted to race again for 11 days and until such time that it performs to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
10 Easy Thai (S Ladjadj) -Was slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed that it was lame in the left foreleg. Trainer K S Wong was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary certificate is produced.
11 Full Of Luck (Y M Choi) -Leaving the 100 metres was held up when attempting a narrow run to the inside of 2 Luen On Prosperity and as a result when to the line without being fully tested.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident leaving the 900 metres where 8 River Rich was checked.
Evidence was taken from the riders of 3 Superb Shooter (S Nakano), 8 River Rich (Apprentice C L Cheung) and 6 Game Of Dreams (J B Hamel). Jockey S Nakano the rider of 3 Superb Shooter pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 1000 metres he had 6 Game Of Dreams and 8 River Rich unnecessarily racing tight to his inside until leaving the 900 metres where 6 Game Of Dreams was taken in onto 8 River Rich which had to be checked. Jockey S Nakano’s license to ride in races was suspended for 1 racemeeting covering the meeting of Saturday, 30th November 2019. In arriving at the decision, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his riding record and the degree of interference and both the racing manners of 6 Game Of Dreams and 8 River Rich at the point of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
