Race Report

RACE-1 THE BOLTON RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1050 METRES (80)

4 Mission Vision (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer Pat Lee was informed that 4 Mission Vision will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed in an official Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards in regard to its barrier manners. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Chappo (B Yamzon) -Near the 900 metres had to be eased away from the heels of 1 Electroplate Alloy which was taken in slightly by 3 Lucky Gold which shifted in. Jockey R Maia the rider of 3 Lucky Gold was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. Leaving the 800 metres raced ungenerously for some distance.
7 Star Of Yiu Sun (T Appie) -Knuckled on jumping away. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight and near the 100 metres had to be steadied off the heels of the tiring 11 Silent Height.
8 Danny Choice (C F Chan) - Rider report the gelding had a tendency to hang out throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Grand Warrior (V Tolentino) -Jumped away awkwardly.
10 Mongolian Warrior (O Chavez) -Checked near the 700 metres.
11 Silent Height (Y M Choi) -Bumped with 6 Galaxy Giant on jumping away.
12 Star Of Yiu Cheung (H Lam) -Raced wide without cover throughout and had a tendency to lay in in the home straight. Rider reported his mount wasn’t the best to begin and he had to make use of the gelding in the early stages to take up a forward position. He added although he was forced to race wide, 12 Star Of Yiu Cheung did not travel comfortably as expected and in his opinion the performance tonight was disappointing. He further added that in his opinion 12 Star Of Yiu Cheung would be better suited to the turf track.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 700 metres whereby 10 Mongolian Warrior (O Chavez) had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 5 Chappo (B Yamzon), 7 Star Of Yiu Sun (T Appie), 9 Grand Warrior (V Tolentino) and 10 Mongolian Warrior (O Chavez). Jockey V Tolentino the rider of 9 Grand Warrior pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 700 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of 10 Mongolian Warrior which was taken out onto the heels of 7 Star Of Yiu Sun and had to be checked. Jockey V Tolentino’s license to ride in races was suspended for one racemeeting covering the meeting of Saturday, 18 January 2020. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his riding record, the degree of the interference and the racing manners of his mount at the point of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
