Race Report

RACE-1 THE SOUTHAMPTON RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1350 METRES (86)
1 Hostwin Prosperits (J B Hamel) -On jumping away was bumped by 4 My Golden Boy which shifted in when bumped by 9 Ventures Elite.
5 Luen On Prodigy (Y M Choi) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Trillion Prince (O Chavez) -Jumped away awkwardly. Raced fiercely in the early stages. Jockey O Chavez reported to the Stewards that during the run he had concerns with his mount’s breathing and he was of the opinion that it may have suffered a bleeding attack. He added on dismounting he observed blood coming from the gelding’s nostril and reported to Trainer S H Cheong that 7 Trillion Prince had indeed suffered a bleeding attack. Trainer S H Cheong confirmed the report given to him by Jockey O Chavez and added that his stable staff had notified him that 7 Trillion Prince had returned with blood in its nostril. A post race veterinary examination including an endoscopic examination confirmed that 7 Trillion Prince had suffered a bleeding attack. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that the standard stand down period applies and will not be permitted to race until it has passed an official Barrier Trial and a veterinary clearance is produced.
8 Filial Piety (S Ladjadj) -Jumped away awkwardly and shortly after the start had to be eased away from the heels of 10 Impeccable Genius which shifted in slightly
9 Ventures Elite (B Yamzon) -Raced wide without cover throughout. The Stewards questioned Jockey B Yamzon regarding his riding of 9 Ventures Elite in particular from the 600 metres. Jockey B Yamzon explained that he was instructed to have 9 Ventures Elite where it was traveling comfortable and as the horse only has a short sprint to try and ride it with one run from the 400 metres. He stated that from the wide draw he was caught racing without cover and leaving the 700 metres 1 Hostwin Prosperits shifted out to improve resulting in his mount being forced even wider on the track, so he elected to allow the gelding to stride were it was comfortable. He added from the 400 metres he placed his mount under pressure applying the whip down the shoulder until near the 200 metres were he then applied the whip in a forehand manner, however 9 Ventures Elite was very one paced in the run to the finish. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards noted his explanation, however he was reminded of his obligation to ride all his mounts in such a manner as to leave no room for query.
12 Prosperity Star (R Maia) -Rider reported that his mount was under pressure from the 600 metres and responded briefly, however weaken over the final 200 metres.
