Race Report

RACE-1 THE URUMQI RATING 50-30 (CLASS 4) 1500 METRES (135)

1 Ashkari (F Henrique) -Was slow to begin. Approaching the 500 metres had to be steadied when racing in restricted room between 11 Full Score and 3 Wealthy Emperor which when continuing to race ungenerously made contact with the hindquarters of 1 Ashkari and shifted out slightly. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action. Approaching the 200 metres was disappointed for a run to the inside of 12 Wonder Holy which was taken in slightly by 4 Californiatreasure which shifted in slightly after being bumped by 2 Tuhao Power which in turn was bumped by 7 Eclair Boom which had a tendency to lay in and had shifted in slightly before being corrected by its rider. Was then held up for the remainder of the race and went to the line without being fully tested. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Tuhao Power (J B Hamel) -On entering the home straight shifted in and bumped 4 Californiatreasure which shifted out when both horses were attempting a run between 12 Wonder Holy and 7 Eclair Boom. Approaching the 200 metres was bumped by 7 Eclair Boom which had a tendency to lay in and had shifted in slightly before being corrected by its rider.
3 Wealthy Emperor (W H Lao) -Leaving the 800 metres raced fiercely for some distance and proved difficult to settle.
4 Californiatreasure (B Yamzon) -Leaving the 800 metres raced fiercely and shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of 2 Tuhao Power (J B Hamel). Thereafter continued to race fiercely for some distance. On entering the home straight shifted out and was bumped by 2 Tuhao Power which shifted in when both horses were attempting a run between 12 Wonder Holy and 7 Eclair Boom. Approaching the 200 metres was bumped by 2 Tuhao Power which in turn was bumped by 7 Eclair Boom which had a tendency to lay in and had shifted in slightly before being corrected by its rider. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 One From Many (T Appie) -Was slow to begin. Leaving the 900 metres raced fiercely for some distance and had to steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 9 Taolu Expert.
7 Eclair Boom (S Ladjadj) -Jumped away awkwardly.
10 Victory Supreme (O Chavez) -Raced wide rounding the home turn.
11 Full Score (Y M Choi) -Raced wide without cover throughout. Checked leaving the 200 metres.
12 Wonder Holy (S Nakano) -Approaching the 200 metres when tiring was eased momentarily away from the heels of 4 Californiatreasure which shifted in slightly after being bumped by 2 Tuhao Power which in turn was bumped by 7 Eclair Boom which had a tendency to lay in and had shifted in slightly before being corrected by its rider. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident leaving the 200 metres whereby 11 Full Score had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 3 Wealthy Emperor (W H Lao), 10 Victory Supreme (O Chavez) and 11 Full Score (Y M Choi). Jockey W H Lao the rider of 3 Wealthy Emperor pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 200 metres, he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of 11 Full Score (Y M Choi) which had to be checked. Jockey W H Lao’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 racemeetings covering the meetings of Saturday, 28 March and Friday, 3 April 2020. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his good riding record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
