Race Report

RACE-6 THE TORONTO RATING 40-10 (CLASS 5) 1050 METRES (146)

1 Diva Achiever (Y M Choi) -Was held up in the early stages of the home straight. Jockey Y M Choi was reprimanded for accidently dropping his whip at approximately the 100 metres.
4 Cherry Road (J B Hamel) -Jumped away awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Mr Fortune (D Barros) -Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout.
6 Chapman Way (M Tanaka) A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Crown Of Gold (B Yamzon) -Jumped away awkwardly and bumped 10 Lucky Hugo.
9 On Purpose (F Henrique) -Bumped by 11 Circuit Guy on jumping away. Had a tendency to hang in under pressure in the home straight.
10 Lucky Hugo (O Chavez) -Near the 200 metres had to be checked.
11 Circuit Guy (W H Lao) -Bumped 11 Circuit Guy on jumping away.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 200 metres where 10 Lucky Hugo had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 9 On Purpose (F Henrique) and 10 Lucky Hugo (O Chavez). Jockey F Henrique the rider of 9 On Purpose pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 200 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent 9 On Purpose from shifting in when insufficiently clear of 10 Lucky Hugo which had to be checked. Jockey F Henrique’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 racemeetings, covering the meetings of Saturday, 18 April and Saturday, 25 April 2020. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his riding record and the racing manners of his mount at the point of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
