Race Report

RACE-6 THE PERU RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1350 METRES (162)

4 Evergreen Pegasus (J B Hamel) -Stood flat footed as the start was effected and was then slow into stride. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards informed Trainer Y C Fung that a warning had been placed against the gelding for its barrier manners.
6 Luck Of Stratum (K H Yu) -When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of 6 Luck Of Stratum, Jockey K H Yu stated that he was instructed to lead if possible or if the tempo was fast in the early stages to obtain a position behind the speed. He added in the early stages he attempted to obtain the lead, however as 1 Mochi Mochi was maintaining the lead position, he elected to take hold of his mount and have the gelding traveling comfortably outside of that horse. He further added that 6 Luck Of Stratum traveled only fairly and when crossed by other runners near the 600 metres, he was of the opinion that the gelding resented racing in the kickback, thereafter failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing in the run to the finish. Trainer M C Tam confirmed the instructions and added that he was disappointed with today’s performance, however added that 6 Luck Of Stratum may be a horse that performs better when able to lead in its races. The Stewards noted both their explanations. A post race swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer M C Tam was informed that he would be required to present 6 Luck Of Stratum to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 1 March 2020 and in addition it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
8 Nanhai One (C F Chan) -Was slow to begin. Trailed the field throughout and was uncompetitive. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer C W Choi was informed that in view of day’s uncompetitive performance of 8 Nanhai One he would be required to present 8 Nanhai One to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 1 March 2020 and in addition it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
9 Adventure Time (F Henrique) -Was slow to begin. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
