Race Report

RACE-5 THE HARTFORD RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1600 METRES (228)

1 Broadus (S Ladjadj) -Leaving the 150 metres had a tendency to shift in under pressure.
3 Delighted Solution (K H Yu) -Raced wide without cover leaving the 700 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Numberone Mingxuan (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Near the 50 metres had to be checked.
7 Thunder Bear (T Appie) -Jumped away awkwardly. Passing the winning post on the first occasion raced fiercely and had to be eased.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the Stewards considered an objection lodged by Mr. S H Cheong the trainer 6 Numberone Mingxuan (Apprentice C L Cheung) which was placed 2nd by the Judge against 1 Broadus (S Ladjadj) being declared the winner alleging interference over the final 150 metres. Evidence was taken from Trainer S H Cheong and Apprentice C L Cheung, Jockey S Ladjadj and Mr. P Leyshan the trainer of 1 Broadus. After considering all of the evidence and reviewing the patrol films, it was established that near the 50 metres 6 Numberone Mingxuan had to be checked away from the heels of 1 Broadus which shifted in. As the Stewards could not be satisfied that had the interference not taken place, Numberone Mingxuan would have finished ahead of 1 Broadus, the Stewards dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey S Ladjadj the rider of 1 Broadus was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 50 metres he permitted his mount to shift in whilst riding it along when insufficiently clear of 6 Numberone Mingxuan which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey S Ladjadj’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of two racemeetings covering the meetings of Saturday, 4 July and Friday, 10 July 2020. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account Jockey S Ladjadj’s riding record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
