Race Report

RACE-4 THE SYDNEY RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1500 METRES (269)

1 Qian Gua (B Yamzon) -Prior to the race Trainer K H Leong informed the Stewards that due to the wide draw and the expected speed of runners drawn to the gelding’s inside as well as having to carry today’s top weight of 133lb, he would be instructing Jockey B Yamzon to go back at the start and obtain a position with cover in the early stages should circumstances permit.
2 Luen On Poseidon (F Henrique) -Near the 250 metres was taken wider by 5 Beautiful Eighteen which shifted out to improve.
3 Hostwin Shadow (J B Hamel) -Brushed with 8 Luen On Treasure on jumping away. Raced wide without cover until leaving the 900 metres.
4 Victory Moment (W L Ho) -Brushed with 5 Beautiful Eighteen on jumping away. Leaving the 100 metres shifted out under pressure and had to be eased away from the heels of 3 Hostwin Shadow.
5 Beautiful Eighteen (C F Chan) -Brushed with 4 Victory Moment on jumping away.
6 Unforgettable (M Tanaka) - Near the 1250 metres laid in and made contact with the running rail when being eased away from the heels of 8 Luen On Treasure which shifted in when not fully clear. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey S Ladjadj the rider of 8 Luen On Treasure with a severe reprimand and advised him that in similar circumstances in future he would be expected to be sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground. Near the 250 metres was hampered when taken wider on the track by 9 Rose Hero which was taken out by 2 Luen On Poseidon which in turn was taken out by 5 Beautiful Eighteen which shifted out around the heels of 7 Crown Of Gold to establish clear running when not fully clear. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey C F Chan the rider of 5 Beautiful Eighteen with a severe reprimand and advised him that in similar circumstances in future he is to ensure he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Crown Of Gold (L Corrales) -Near the 1100 metres was bumped by 4 Victory Moment which shifted in. Was inclined to shift out under pressure over the final 50 metres.
8 Luen On Treasure (S Ladjadj) -Brushed with 3 Hostwin Shadow on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Rose Hero (K H Yu) -Had a tendency to lay in under pressure rounding the home turn.
