Race Report

RACE-2 THE GISBORNE RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1050 METRES (279)

1 Akeli Sword (K H Yu) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
2 Silent Height (L Corrales) -Rider reported that he intended to obtain the lead position as his mount jumped well, however 2 Silent Height then failed to show its customary speed in the early stages and as such settled further back than anticipated. He then added that from the inside barrier draw, 2 Silent Height was forced to race on the inside section of the track which in his opinion was inferior and in the home straight when placed under pressure his mount failed to respond and proved somewhat disappointing. He further added that in his opinion 2 Silent Height is a horse that performs better when able to lead in its races. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Kelvin's Choice (Apprentice C L Cheung) - Rounding the home turn was held up and unable to improve and on entering the home straight was disappointed for run between 9 Danny Choice and 7 Diamond Moonlight.
4 Military Star (J B Hamel) -Near the 700 metres momentarily raced in restricted room between 6 Star Of Yiu Sun and 8 Mochi Mochi which was taken out by 2 Silent Height which shifted out slightly.
5 Oh So Easy (H Lam) -Shortly after the start was steadied when tightened for room between 4 Military Star which shifted in and 3 Kelvin's Choice which was taken out by 9 Danny Choice which had a tendency to lay out.
6 Star Of Yiu Sun (W H Lao) -Had a tendency to lay in in the home straight.
7 Diamond Moonlight (W L Ho) -Hung out from the 500 metres and continued to do so for the remainder of the race. Rider reported that he had difficulty in placing 7 Diamond Moonlight under pressure on the home straight due to its tendency to hang out. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
