Race Report

RACE-1 THE TETRARCH (DIV 2) RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1500 METRES (284)

1 Wealthy Emperor (F Henrique) - Was marginally slow to begin. Rounding the home turn had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 8 Luen On Prodigy. Near the 200 metres was disappointed for a run between 8 Luen On Prodigy which was shifting in and 5 Qipao Queen which when weakening simultaneously rolled out marginally bumping 1 Wealthy Emperor which was then obliged to steady and shift out across the heels of 8 Luen On Prodigy to obtain clear running. Leaving the 100 metres was obliged to shift out around the heels of 2 Ocean Warrior to obtain clear running.
4 Satono Eternal (J B Hamel) -Was marginally slow to begin.
5 Qipao Queen (S Nakano) -Hung out for a short distance after the start. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality other than that the gelding had cast its left front plate.
7 Mission Dragon (W L Ho) - Was marginally slow to begin.
Raced wide without cover throughout. Rider reported he raced wide without cover rounding the first turn and in an attempt to obtain a position closer to the running rail, he allowed 7 Mission Dragon to stride forward. He added when 2 Ocean Warrior improved to his inside and did not allow 7 Mission Dragon to cross near the 900 metres, he then attempted to restrain 7 Mission Dragon to obtain a position behind 2 Ocean Warrior with cover, however 6 Star Of City Gold had improved into that position and as result he was left racing wide without cover for the remainder of the event. The Stewards noted his explanation. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Luen On Prodigy (S Ladjadj) - Jumped away awkwardly.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey F Henrique the rider of 1 Wealthy Emperor (2nd placed getter) against 8 Luen On Prodigy (S Ladjadj) being declared the winner by the Judge alleging interference over the final 200 metres. After considering all of the evidence from Jockey F Henrique rider of 1 Wealthy Emperor, Mr. S Chow the trainer of 1 Wealthy Emperor, Jockey S Ladjadj the rider of 8 Luen On Prodigy and Mr. G Allendorf the trainer of 8 Luen On Prodigy and reviewing the patrol films, it was established that approaching the 200 metres 1 Wealthy Emperor was disappointed for a run between 8 Luen On Prodigy which was shifting in and 5 Qipao Queen which when weakening simultaneously rolled out marginally bumping 1 Wealthy Emperor which was then obliged to steady and shift out across the heels of 8 Luen On Prodigy to obtain clear running. As the Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the incident was solely caused by 8 Luen On Prodigy, the objection was therefore dismissed and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.

At a subsequent inquiry, the Stewards issued Jockey S Ladjadj the rider of 8 Luen On Prodigy with a severe reprimand and advised him that he would be expected to be fully clear of runners when shifting ground in similar circumstances in future.
