Race Report

RACE-2 THE ALLOA RATING 60-35 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (309)

1 Striking Brahma (Apprentice C L Cheung) -On entering the home straight was held up. Leaving the 200 metres was disappointed for a run between 7 Casino Mok and 3 Thar and was then shifted to the inside of the heels of 7 Casino Mok to establish clear running.
2 Akeli Sword (K H Yu) -Near the 850 metres was checked. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Golden Key (J B Hamel) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and proved difficult to settle. Near the 850 metres was checked. Near the 750 metres when continuing to race ungenerously was buffeted momentarily between 8 Knows It All and 11 Kelvin's Choice, both of which shifted ground slightly. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had suffered a bleeding attack. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that the standard stand down period applies and 4 Golden Key will not be permitted to race again until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial and a veterinary certificate is produced.
6 Rivalry (W L Ho) - After the race the Veterinary Surgeon reported that 6 Rivalry had cast its left fore plate.
8 Knows It All (F Henrique) -Near the 850 metres was hampered when momentarily tightened for room.
9 One Belt One Road (H Lam) -Bumped 10 Beat The Market on jumping away.
10 Beat The Market (T Appie) -Bumped by 9 One Belt One Road on jumping away. Near the 850 metres was checked. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
11 Kelvin's Choice (B Yamzon) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
12 Superb Shooter (S Ladjadj) -Was slow to begin. On entering the home straight had some difficulty in securing clear running and leaving the 300 metres was shifted in across the heels of 9 One Belt One Road to obtain clear running.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident near the 850 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 6 Rivalry (W L Ho), 4 Golden Key (J B Hamel) and 8 Knows It All (F Henrique). It was established that near the 850 metres 4 Golden Key which was racing ungenerously for some distance leading up to the incident had to be checked and shifted in away from the heels of 6 Rivalry which shifted in when not fully clear, resulting in 8 Knows It All being hampered when momentarily tightened for room. 10 Beat The Market which was following 4 Golden Key raced up onto the heels of that runner and had to be checked. In addition 2 Akeli Sword which was following 10 Beat The Market was also checked in consequence. After considering all of the circumstances and taking into consideration the racing manners of 4 Golden Key leading up to and at the point of the incident, Stewards issued Jockey W L Ho the rider of 6 Rivalry a severe reprimand and advised him in similar circumstances in future, he is to ensure he sufficiently clear before shifting ground.
