Race Report

RACE-6 THE MORTON RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1800 METRES (325)

2 Lucky Winston (S Nakano) -Was slow to begin.
3 Franklin Lane (H Lam) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Joyful Bear (J B Hamel) -Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with 8 Tokai Shinsei which after jumping away awkwardly shifted in. Leaving the 300 metres momentarily raced in restricted room and was bumped by 7 Chase Wind which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. Jockey D Barros the rider of 7 Chase Wind was issued with a severe reprimand and was advised that he would be expected to be sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground in future.
5 Star Of City Gold (K H Yu) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
6 Highspot (F Henrique) -Rounding the home turn was brushed by 5 Star Of City which was attempting to shift out to improve.
7 Chase Wind (D Barros) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer C F Chan was informed that he would be required to present 7 Chase Wind to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 27 July 2020.
8 Tokai Shinsei (T Appie) -Jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with 4 Joyful Bear which after jumping away awkwardly shifted out. At the winning post was brushed by 5 Star Of City Gold which shifted out under pressure.
9 Victory Achiever (M Tanaka) -Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer K M Chin was informed that 9 Victory Achiever will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
10 Thunder Bear (S Ladjadj) -Was slow to begin.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race the “Enquiry Sign” was semaphored to allow the Stewards an opportunity to review the patrol films of the start to ascertain whether 9 Victory Achiever (M Tanaka) had been afforded a fair start. It was established that as the start was effected 9 Victory Achiever stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. The Stewards were satisfied that 9 Victory Achiever had been afforded a fair start and as such correct weight was declared.
