Race Report

RACE-4 THE HUPEI RATING 60-35 (CLASS 3&4) 1050 METRES (10)

2 Golden Thumb (S Ladjadj) -Brushed by 11 Invincible on jumping away.
3 Royal Good Friend (H Lam) -Knuckled on jumping away.
4 Gunstigmaster (L Corrales) -Rider reported that his mount never traveled at any stage of the race and was inclined to race with its head up which was uncharacteristic to when he had ridden the gelding previously. He added his mount never responded to his riding and was one paced. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer C W Choi was informed that he would be required to present 4 Gunstigmaster to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 26 September 2020.
7 Heartgoodallwell (C F Chan) -Was slow to begin.
9 For Community (D Barros) -On entering the home straight shifted out slightly and had to be steadied away from the heels of 6 You And You Alone which at the same time shifted in slightly.
10 Special Charger (B Yamzon) -Knuckled on jumping away. Raced wide without cover throughout.
11 Invincible (T Appie) -Brushed 2 Golden Thumb on jumping away. Leaving the 200 metres rider dropped his whip. Near the 150 metres was taken wider on the track when bumped by 1 Garlic And Spicy which shifted out before being corrected by its rider. Jockey K H Yu the rider of 1 Garlic And Spicy was issued with a severe reprimand and was advised that in similar circumstances, he would be expected to stop riding and correct his mount sooner than he did on this occasion. Near the 50 metres shifted in under pressure and raced close to the heels of 1 Garlic And Spicy which at the same time shifted out.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored and the Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey T Appie the rider of 11 Invincible (2nd placegetter) against 1 Garlic And Spicy (K H Yu) being declared the winner alleging interference over the final 200 metres. Evidence was taken from Jockey T Appie and Mr. K S Ho the trainer of 11 Invincible and Jockey K H Yu and Mr. S H Cheong the trainer of 1 Garlic And Spicy. After considering all of the evidence, it was established that near the 150 metres 11 Invincible was taken wider on the track when bumped by 1 Garlic And Spicy which shifted out before being corrected by its rider. Then near the 50 metres 11 Invincible shifted in under pressure and raced close to the heels of 1 Garlic And Spicy which at the same time shifted out. After considering all of the evidence and the beaten margin of 1.5 lengths, the Stewards could not be satisfied that had the interference not taken place that 11 Invincible would have finished ahead of 1 Garlic And Spicy and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings.
