Race Report

RACE-1 THE DONCASTER RATING 45-20 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (37)

3 Captain Brentford (F Henrique) -Jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 1200 metres raced ungenerously and shifted out bumping 9 Beat The Market.
4 Heart Of Iu Cheong (C L Cheung) -Leaving the 50 metres shifted out under pressure and had to be steadied when making contact with the hindquarters of 3 Captain Brentford which at the same time was taken in slightly by 5 Ronson which shifted in marginally. As the Stewards deemed this to be a racing incident, no further action was taken.
5 Ronson (W L Ho) -Was slow to begin.
6 Ventures Elite (W H Lao) -Raced wide without cover throughout. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
7 Premier Choice (M Tanaka) -Was bumped by 9 Beat The Market on jumping away.
8 Royal Master (C F Chan) -Had to be checked leaving the 1300 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Beat The Market (L Corrales) -On jumping away bumped with 7 Premier Choice. Approaching to 1200 metres when inclined to race ungenerously had to be checked when tightened for room between 3 Captain Brentford which when racing ungenerously shifted out and 6 Ventures Elite which shifted in. After considering all of the circumstances, whilst the Stewards acknowledged that there was a contributing shift outwards from 3 Captain Brentford, they nevertheless severely reprimanded Jockey W H Lao the rider of 6 Ventures Elite for permitting his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of 9 Beat The Market and he was advised that he is to ensure he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times. Thereafter continued to race ungenerously. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Wealthy Emperor (D Barros) -Prior to the race Mr. S Chow the trainer of 12 Wealthy Emperor advised the Stewards that from a wide draw tonight, he would instructing Jockey D Barros to come back at the start and take up a position closer to the rail. Leaving the 800 metres raced ungenerously had to be steadied away from the heels of 5 Ronson. Approaching the 400 metres had to be eased when disappointed for a run to the inside of 3 Captain Brentford.
RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the reason 8 Royal Master had to be checked leaving the 1300 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 8 Royal Master (C F Chan) and 12 Wealthy Emperor (D Barros). Jockey D Barros the rider of 12 Wealthy Emperor pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 1300 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 8 Royal Master which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey D Barros’ license to ride in races was suspended for one racemeeting covering the meeting of Saturday, 28 November 2020. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account Jockey D Barros’s guilty plea, his riding record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
