Race Report

RACE-5 THE CLEVELAND RATING 60-35 (CLASS 3&4) 1350 METRES (128)

1 Stadium (D Barros) -Jumped away awkwardly and was then tightened for room between 8 Tokai Shinsei which shifted out and 2 Half Lamma Boss which was taken in by 3 Guillocharm which shifted in when laying in. As Stewards deemed this a racing incident, no further action was taken.
2 Half Lamma Boss (W H Lao) -Raced wide without cover from the 600 metres.
3 Guillocharm (L Corrales) -Was inclined to lay in and race fiercely in the early stages. Then when the pace of the race slowed near the 1100 metres had to be steadied off the heels of 7 Smart Arrow. Leaving the 50 metres was obliged to alter course outwards slightly when 9 Yings Fans shifted out slightly under pressure.
4 Bring Me Power (W L Ho) -Was unable to be ridden out over the concluding stages when racing awkwardly on the heels of 3 Guillocharm which was taken out slightly by 9 Yings Fans which shifted out slightly under pressure. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Blackjack Mok (C L Cheung) -Raced wide without cover throughout. Was inclined to lay out from the 600 metres.
7 Smart Arrow (K H Yu) -Was resaddled behind the barriers.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey L Corrales the rider of 3 Guillocharm, 4th placed horse against 9 Yings Fans (S Nakano) being placed 3rd by the Judge for alleging interference over the final 100 metres. Evidence was taken from Jockey L Corrales and Mr. P Leyshan the trainer of 3 Guillocharm and Jockey S Nakano and Mr. K S Wong the trainer of 9 Yings Fans. It was established that leaving the 50 metres 3 Guillocharm was obliged to alter course outwards slightly when 9 Yings Fans shifted out slightly under pressure. After considering all of the evidence, as the Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had the interference not taken place, 3 Guillocharm would have finished ahead of 9 Yings Fans, they dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings. Jockey S Nakano the rider of 9 Yings Fans will be told to excise more care in similar circumstance in future.
