Race Report

RACE-2 THE SAINT LOUIS (DIV.2) RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1200 METRES (136)

1 Superlative Choice (C L Cheung) -Was hampered on jumping away between 9 Victory Supreme and 7 Oh So Easy which shifted in after being brushed by 5 Beauty Life which shifted in when laying in. Blundered at the 1100 metres. Rider reported that leaving the 800 metres when racing to the inside of 8 Magic Kid which was yielding ground, his mount was inclined to drop the bit and as a result lost ground.
3 Lucky Star (D Barros) -Was slow to begin.
4 On Purpose (W H Lao) -Jumped away awkwardly. Had a tendency to lay in throughout. Near the 300 metres shifted in slightly when laying in and then had to be steadied away the heels of 2 Master Of Mars which at the same time shifted out and away from 7 Oh So Easy which shifted out slightly. Rider reported that as his mount had a tendency to lay in and felt uncomfortable in its action in the home straight, he elected to ride his mount out hands and heels to the finish of the race. The Stewards noted his explanation.
6 Wing Wo (L Corrales) -Had a tendency to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
7 Oh So Easy (T Appie) -Was brushed by 5 Beauty Life on jumping away which shifted in when laying in.
8 Magic Kid (S Ladjadj) -Rider reported that his mount felt awkward in its action throughout and remained distant from the remainder of the field. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer S Chow was informed that he would be required to present 8 Magic Kid to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 31 January 2021. In addition, 8 Magic Kid will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
