Race Report

RACE-5 THE COLUMBUS RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1350 METRES (145)

1 Harvest Year (K H Yu) -Shortly after the start was bumped by 12 River Applause which shifted in when laying in.
2 Blackjack Mok (C L Cheung) -Was inclined to lay out from the 500 metres.
3 Flash Shadow (Y M Choi) -Knuckled severely on jumping away resulting in Jockey Y M Choi becoming unbalanced in the saddle and losing the use of his right stirrup iron until near the 1200 metres. As a result lost significant ground.
5 Destney (B Yamzon) -Near the 600 metres brushed with 7 Trophy Cabinet. Was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
6 Fortune Fast (D Barros) -Near the 1000 metres had to be checked away from the heels of 9 Digital Victory which shifted in of its own accord, before being corrected by its rider, away from 1 Harvest Year which in turn shifted in slightly. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards deemed this to be a racing incident and took no further action. Rounding the home turn momentarily raced in restricted room between 12 River Applause which shifted out slightly and 4 Ares Spear which was laying in. Leaving the 300 metres was inclined to shift out under pressure and was corrected by its rider approaching the 200 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Trophy Cabinet (S Nakano) -Near the 600 metres brushed with 5 Destney.
8 Ashkari (M Tanaka) -Near the 1200 metres was steadied away from the heels of 6 Fortune Fast which was taken in by 9 Digital Victory which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey W L Ho the rider of 9 Digital Victory was severely reprimanded and advised he is to ensure he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times.
9 Digital Victory (W L Ho) -On entering the home straight had to be steadied away from the heels of 1 Harvest Year which shifted out before being corrected by its rider. Jockey K H Yu the rider of 1 Harvest Year was informed to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
11 Shooting To Pins (W H Lao) -Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer W H Tse was informed that 11 Shooting To Pins will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. Rider reported that after losing ground at the start, his mount did not stride out freely in the early and middle stages.
12 River Applause (T Appie) -Shortly after the start shifted in when laying in and bumped 1 Harvest Year. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
