Race Report

RACE-1 THE HUANGSHI RATING 45-0 (CLASS 4&5) 1200 METRES (197)

1 Ventures Elite (B Yamzon) -Raced wide without cover from the 500 metres.
2 Danish Star (L Corrales) -Near the 500 metres was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 3 Beauty Life. Near the 250 metres was checked.
3 Beauty Life (D Barros) - In the early stages of the home straight was inclined to shift ground under pressure.
4 Harvest Day (K H Yu) -Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Near the 900 metres shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of 9 Fit Lite which at the same time shifted in. Then continued to race ungenerously and shifted in hampering 10 Right Right Right. Trainer M C Tam was informed that a warning would be placed on 4 Harvest Day in relation to its racing manners.
5 Prevenient Grace (W H Lao) -Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Dawson (W L Ho) -Was slow to begin and was then slow into stride. Near the 500 metres was steadied when hampered by 7 Snow Storm which shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of 2 Danish Star which lost ground when steadying away from the heels of 3 Beauty Life. On entering the home straight was inconvenienced by 1 Ventures Elite which was taken out by 3 Beauty Life which shifted out slightly under pressure.
7 Snow Storm (C L Cheung) -Leaving 800 metres was eased away from the heels of 2 Danish Star which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey L Corrales the rider of 2 Danish Star was advised to exercise more care in the similar circumstances in the future. Was held up on entering the home straight and leaving the 300 metres shifted in across the heels of 3 Beauty Life in an attempt to obtain clear running. Near the 250 metres was disappointed for a run between 8 Small Waterfall and 3 Beauty Life, both of which shifted ground. Was then shifted in across the heels of 8 Small Waterfall to obtain clear running.
8 Small Waterfall (F Henrique) -Jumped away awkwardly. Jockey F Henrique the rider of 8 Small Waterfall will be reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts out fully to the finish line.
10 Right Right Right (C F Chan) -Was slow into stride. Near the 900 metres was hampered by 4 Harvest Day. For some distance thereafter raced fiercely.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 250 metres where 2 Danish Star was checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 2 Danish Star (L Corrales), 3 Beauty Life (D Barros) and 7 Snow Storm (C L Cheung). It was established that near the 250 metres 2 Danish Star and 7 Snow Storm attempted to take a tight run between 3 Beauty Life and 8 Small Waterfall. Shortly after both horses 3 Beauty Life and 8 Small Waterfall shifted ground under pressure resulting in 7 Snow Storm shifting in and away from 3 Beauty Life thereby making contact with 2 Danish Star which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. As Stewards could not portion blame to anyone rider, no further action was taken other than to advise all riders to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
