Race Report

RACE-6 THE HARBIN RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1200 METRES (219)

2 We Love Macau (S Ladjadj) -As the start was effected stood flat footed, then jumped awkwardly losing significant ground. Trainer J Lau was informed that in view of the barrier manners of 2 We Love Macau, the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. Near the 500 metres shifted in slightly and bumped with 9 Grateful Favors which at the same time shifted out slightly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 You And You Alone (C L Cheung) -Shortly after the start hung out for a short distance. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination revealed that 5 You And You Alone had suffered a bleeding attack. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that the standard stand down period applies and before being permitted to race again, 5 You And You Alone will be required to pass an official Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards and a veterinary clearance must be produced.
9 Grateful Favors (Y M Choi) -Near the 500 metres shifted out slightly and bumped with 2 We Love Macau which at the same time shifted in slightly.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards an opportunity to review the patrol films of the start to ascertain whether 2 We Love Macau (S Ladjadj) was afforded a fair start. The Stewards also considered an application from Trainer J Lau and Jockey S Ladjadj that 2 We Love Macau be declared a non starter. After considering the evidence tendered by Trainer J Lau, Jockey S Ladjadj and the Starter Mr. W K Lei and having reviewed the patrol films, it was established that as the start was effected 2 We Love Macau stood flat footed, then jumped away awkwardly on its own accord and lost significant ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that 2 We Love Macau had been afforded a fair start, it was therefore declared a starter.
