Race Report

RACE-6 THE KWANGSI RATING 45-20 (CLASS 4&5) 1050 METRES (6)

1 Everything Rise (K H Yu) -Bumped with 8 Go Fish Go on jumping away. Near the 650 metres was inclined to lay out and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 10 River Prosperity. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Farmer's Voice (F Henrique) -Was fractious in the barriers and became cast. Was removed from its barrier stall and underwent a veterinary examination. Acting on veterinary advice that 2 Farmer's Voice was lame in the right hind leg, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4:59pm. Trainer K S Wong was informed that 2 Farmer's Voice will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial and a veterinary certificate is produced.
4 Fortune Fast (Y M Choi) -Proved difficult to load. Trainer C W Choi was informed that a warning had been placed on 4 Fortune Fast in relation to its barrier manners.
8 Go Fish Go (W H Lao) -Bumped with 1 Everything Rise on jumping away and shortly after the start momentarily raced in restricted room between 10 River Prosperity and 1 Everything Rise which shifted out when laying out. Rider reported that he was instructed to not use his mount up in the early stages and have it traveling where it was comfortable so as to allow the gelding the opportunity to finish its race off. He added that in his opinion 8 Go Fish Go resented racing in the kickback and felt unbalanced and as a result lost ground and settled further back than he had anticipated. He further added that in the home straight in order to keep his mount balanced and as he had concerns as to the gelding’s history of making abnormal respiratory noises in its races, he elected to ride his mount out strongly hands and heels only. He added whilst in his opinion, 8 Go Fish Go was responding best to his hands and heels riding, in hindsight he could have been more aggressive by applying the whip. Whilst the Stewards noted his explanation, they nevertheless reminded Jockey W H Lao of his obligations to ride all his mounts in such a manner as to leave no room for query. Trainer Pat Lee was informed that he would be required to present 8 Go Fish Go to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 19 September 2021.
10 River Prosperity (L Corrales) -Near the 900 metres had to be eased away from the heels of 4 Fortune Fast which shifted in abruptly whilst being ridden along. Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 4 Fortune Fast was issued with a severe reprimand and was advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts.
