Race Report

RACE-3 THE RIPON RATING 70+ (CLASS 1&2) 1600 METRES (21)

1 Sacred Capital (L Corrales) -Raced wide without cover for the majority. Rider reported that 1 Sacred Capital jumped only fairly tonight and as a result settled further back than he had anticipated. He added that rounding the first turn he was caught racing wide although with cover however on entering the back straight 1 Sacred Capital was not traveling comfortably and resented the kick back. He added he then shifted 1 Sacred Capital wider on the track, out of the kickback to improve its position where 1 Sacred Capital commenced to travel, however from the 600 metres the gelding was off the bit, did not respond to his riding and was uncharacteristically one paced in the run to the finish. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer J Lau was informed that he would be required to present 1 Sacred Capital to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 16 October 2021.
3 Sheng Li Superstar (C L Cheung) -Shortly after the start was bumped by 10 Hostwin Saturn which was taken in by 5 City Gold which shifted in slightly.
4 Qian Gua (S Nakano) -Shortly after the start brushed with 8 Pearl Green. Was inclined to lay in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
5 City Gold (M Tanaka) -Leaving the 500 metres had to be steadied inwards across the heels of 9 Simon Fubuki which shifted out to improve when insufficiently clear. Jockey W H Lao the rider of 9 Simon Fubuki was issued a severe reprimand and was advised that in similar circumstances, he would be expected to be sufficiently clear when shifting ground.
8 Pearl Green (Y M Choi) -Shortly after the start brushed with 4 Qian Gua.
9 Simon Fubuki (W H Lao) -Was inclined to hang in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer W H Tse was informed that a warning has been placed on 9 Simon Fubuki in relation to its racing manners.
10 Hostwin Saturn (H Lam) -Shortly after the start bumped 3 Sheng Li Superstar when taken in by 5 City Gold which shifted in slightly.
