Race Report

RACE-4 THE GOWRAN PARK RATING 60-35 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (44)

1 Cherry Road (T Appie) -Near the 150 metres shifted in slightly when inclined to lay in and was then awkwardly placed on the heels of 9 Thar for some distance when that runner was inclined to shift out and away from 4 Rubick Kingdom which in turn shifted out slightly under pressure. As the Stewards deemed this a racing incident, no further action was taken.
2 Everlasting Praise (C L Cheung) -Stood flat footed of its own accord as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer K M Chin was informed that 2 Everlasting Praise will not be permitted to race for 11 days until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Marqula (M Tanaka) -Near the 750 metres was bumped by 4 Rubick Kingdom which when racing fiercely shifted out.
4 Rubick Kingdom (S Nakano) -Was inclined to lay out for a short distance after the start. For some distance approaching and passing the 800 metres raced fiercely. Near the 750 metres shifted out and bumped 3 Marqula. Was held up on entering the home straight and was unable to establish clear running until the 250 metres where it was shifted to the outside of 3 Marqula to obtain clear running.
6 Golden Rose (J B Hamel) -Bumped with 9 Thar on jumping away.
8 Me Whee (Apprentice X C Liang) -Near the 300 metres blundered. Near the 150 metres rider momentarily got his whip entangled in the reins.
9 Thar (F Henrique) -Bumped with 6 Golden Rose on jumping away

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards the opportunity to review the video patrol films of the start, to ascertain whether 2 Everlasting Praise (C L Cheung) had been afforded a fair start. It was established that as the start was effected 2 Everlasting Praise stood flat footed of its own accord and lost considerable ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that 2 Everlasting Praise had been afforded a fair start, correct weight was declared.
