Race Report

RACE-2 THE BATHURST RATING 55-25 (CLASS 4) 1800 METRES (59)

4 Money Link (J B Hamel) -Was examined behind the barriers by the Veterinary Surgeon at the request of Jockey J B Hamel and was subsequently passed fit to start. Rider reported that his mount never felt comfortable in its action at any stage of the race, and as he had concern with his mount’s action, he elected to ease his mount out of the race in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K M Chin was informed that he would be required to present 4 Money Link to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday 15 November 2021 and in addition the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
6 Pearl Lucky (K H Yu) -Was slow to begin. Was checked near the 1500 metres.
7 Pay Me (Apprentice X C Liang) -Jumped away awkwardly. Shortly after the start brushed with 9 Fantastic Friends. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and was checked near the 1500 metres. Raced wide without cover throughout.
9 Fantastic Friends (C L Cheung) -Shortly after the start brushed with 7 Pay Me.
10 Magnesium Alloy (S H Huang) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near 1500 metres where 6 Pearl Lucky and 7 Pay Me were checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 5 Mountain Eagle (T Appie), 6 Pearl Lucky (K H Yu) and 7 Pay Me (Apprentice X C Liang). After considering all of the evidence, it was established that 7 Pay Me after jumping away awkwardly and in a rearward position improved quickly whilst being ridden along between 5 Mountain Eagle and 6 Pearl Lucky and leaving the winning post on first occasion shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of 5 Mountain Eagle which at the same time shifted in slightly. 7 Pay Me then became unbalanced, was checked and shifted in tightening 6 Pearl Lucky which also had to be checked. After taking into account all mitigating factors of this incident, the Stewards took no further action other than advised all riders to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
