Race Report

RACE-5 THE BROKEN HILL RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1500 METRES (62)

2 Everything Rise (Apprentice X C Liang) -Raced fiercely in the early stages. Near the 1100 metres was steadied outwards when awkwardly placed on the heels of 7 Joyful Fighter. Raced wide without cover thereafter. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Hundred Victories (W H Lao) -Acting on veterinary advice that 3 Hundred Victories was lame in the right foreleg, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4:02pm. Trainer G Allendorf was informed that 3 Hundred Victories will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary certificate is produced.
4 Fair Dream (B Yamzon) -Gradually shifted out under pressure over the final 50 metres and brushed 10 Wealthy Emperor just prior the winning post.
6 Golden Wai (T Appie) -Shifted out on jumping away and was bumped by 8 Yiu Cheung Prince which shifted in after being bumped by 12 Right Right Right.
7 Joyful Fighter (S H Huang) -Jumped away awkwardly.
8 Yiu Cheung Prince (F Henrique) -Was bumped by 12 Right Right Right on jumping away.
10 Wealthy Emperor (C L Cheung) -Was held up rounding the home turn.
11 River Exquisite (K H Yu) -Was slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Right Right Right (H Lam) -Bumped 8 Yiu Cheung Prince on jumping away.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry” Sign was semaphored and at the same time, the Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey C L Cheung the rider of 10 Wealthy Emperor (2nd placed getter) against 4 Fair Dream (B Yamzon) being declared the winner by the Judge for alleging interference in the home straight. Evidence was taken from Jockey C L Cheung and Mr. S Chow the trainer of 10 Wealthy Emperor and Jockey B Yamzon and Mr. S H Cheung the trainer of 4 Fair Dream. It was established that 4 Fair Dream gradually shifted out under pressure over the final 50 metres carrying 10 Wealthy Emperor outwards slightly and just prior to the winning post both 4 Fair Dream and 10 Wealthy Emperor brushed.
After considering all of the evidence and taking into account the margin of a short head and where the incident took place, the Stewards could not be satisfied that had the interference not taken place that 10 Wealthy Emperor would have finished ahead of 4 Fair Dream, therefore the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared.
