Race Report

RACE-4 THE HULL RATING 60-35 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (102)

2 City Gold Spirit (Apprentice Tesuri) -Shifted in on jumping away and made contact with the hindquarters of 8 Turquoise Success. Then a short distance later had to be steadied when tightened for room between 8 Turquoise Success and 12 Who Fancies You, both of which shifted ground.
5 Mystery Dancer (W H Lao) -On jumping away was tightened for room between 1 Mcilroy and 6 Colonel Mordaunt, both of which shifted ground.
7 Handsome Alloy (K H Yu) -For some distance approaching and passing the 800 metres raced ungenerously and near the 750 metres shifted out and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 3 Sheng Tong Glory.
8 Turquoise Success (Apprentice X C Liang) -Had its hindquarters bumped by 2 City Gold Spirit on jumping away and shortly after the start bumped with 12 Who Fancies You. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Foxy Rocket (B Yamzon) -Raced wide without cover throughout. Leaving the 50 metres shifted out and away from 10 River Arrow and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 12 Who Fancies You.
10 River Arrow (C L Cheung) -Near the 1000 metres was steadied away from the heels of 1 Mcilroy which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey S H Huang the rider of 1 Mcilroy was issued a severe reprimand and he was advised that he would be expected to be sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times. Near the 750 metres brushed the running rail when racing in restricted room to the inside of 2 City Gold Spirit which shifted in and away from 11 Ocean Warrior. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards deemed this a racing incident and took no further action. Was held up on entering the home straight and was unable to establish clear running until near the 150 metres. Near the 50 metres had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between 9 Foxy Rocket and 1 Mcilroy which shifted out under pressure whilst being ridden along when not fully clear. Jockey S H Huang the rider of 1 Mcilroy was issued with a severe reprimand and he was advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts.
12 Who Fancies You (A A Rivera) -Shortly after the start bumped with 8 Turquoise Success.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey K H Yu the rider of 2nd placed horse 7 Handsome Alloy against 3 Sheng Tong Glory (L Corrales) being declared the winner for alleging interference near the 800 metres. Evidence was taken from Jockey K H Yu and Mr. C W Choi the trainer of 7 Handsome Alloy and Jockey L Corrales and Mr. W H Tse the trainer of 3 Sheng Tong Glory. It was established that for some distance approaching and passing the 800 metres 7 Handsome Alloy raced ungenerously and near the 750 metres shifted out on its own accord and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 3 Sheng Tong Glory. As the Stewards were satisfied that the racing manners of 7 Handsome Alloy had contributed to this incident, the Stewards dismissed the objection and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.
