Race Report

RACE-1 THE MONTPELLIER RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1200 METRES (123)

1 Master Of Mars (K F Choi) -Knuckled shortly after the start and then bumped with 10 Win Win Partners. Leaving the 100 metres rider momentarily dropped his right rein before regathering a short distance later. Was then obliged to shift in across the heels of 6 House Of Power to obtain clear running as that runner shifted out under pressure. Jockey S Nakano the rider of 6 House Of Power was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
2 Yiu Cheung Prince (L Corrales) -Raced wide without cover for the majority. Near the 250 metres when commencing to yield ground had to be eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of 9 Wealthyness which shifted out slightly away from 5 Black Pink which also shifted out slightly under pressure. Rider reported that in his opinion his mount failed to handle today’s going. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Wing Wo (C L Cheung) -Near the 650 metres brushed the running rail. Was held up rounding the home turn and near the 200 metres had to be checked when awkwardly placed on the heels of 9 Wealthyness which shifted in abruptly after being struck with the whip, before then being corrected by its rider. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards placed a warning on 9 Wealthyness in relation to its racing manners. Was eased over the concluding stages when momentarily crowded for room between 1 Master Of Mars and 3 Wealthy Land, both of which shifted ground. Jockey K F Choi the rider 1 Master Of Mars and Jockey W H Lao the rider of 3 Wealthy Land were both advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
5 Black Pink (Apprentice Tesuri) -After taking submissions from Trainer K M Chin prior to the race, the Stewards acceded to his request for 5 Black Pink to carry pacifiers. Was marginally slow to begin.
8 Express Pony (Y M Choi) -Was steadied shortly after the start when crowded for room between 2 Yiu Cheung Prince and 7 Everything Rise which shifted out when laying out.
9 Wealthyness (K H Yu) -Near the 200 metres shifted in abruptly after being struck with the whip and had to be corrected by its rider. Trainer C W Choi was informed that a warning will be placed on 9 Wealthyness in relation to its racing manners.
10 Win Win Partners (S H Huang) -Was marginally slow to begin. Shortly after the start bumped with 1 Master Of Mars. Raced wide without cover throughout.
