Race Report

RACE-5 THE CHARLOTTE RATING 70-45 (CLASS 3) 1510 METRES (163)

1 Military Strongman (K H Yu) -Blundered shortly after the start. Near the 650 metres was eased when momentarily racing tight to the inside of 8 Rose Hero which was taken in slightly by 5 Shengtong Treasure which in turn shifted in slightly when laying in.
2 Fortune Ahead (C L Cheung) -Near the 1300 metres shifted in slightly and had to be eased away from the heels of 7 Akeli Sword which at the same time shifted out slightly. Near the 1250 metres then had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 7 Akeli Sword which shifted out when inclined to lay out. Near the 1200 metres was eased when momentarily tightened for room between 4 Still Be Friends which shifted in slightly and 7 Akeli Sword which shifted out when continuing to lay out. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards placed a warning on 7 Akeli Sword in relation to its racing manners. Approaching the 400 metres shifted in slightly when laying in under pressure and had to be eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of 8 Rose Hero which at the same time was taken out slightly by 1 Military Strongman which shifted out to improve. Was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight and leaving the 300 metres brushed with 8 Rose Hero on a number of occasions. Rider reported that in the home straight his mount was racing flat, was unbalanced and did not respond to his riding. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Fortune Paradise (Apprentice Tesuri) -Jumped away awkwardly and was then bumped by 4 Still Be Friends which shifted in after jumping away awkwardly. Leaving the 1200 metres was momentarily eased away from the heels of 2 Fortune Ahead which shifted in slightly.
4 Still Be Friends (W H Lao) -Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped 3 Fortune Paradise. Raced wide without cover for the majority.
6 Tuhao Choice (S Nakano) -Near the 1150 metres shifted out slightly and brushed 9 Mok Danasty. For some distance passing the 800 metres shifted out slightly and bumped with 9 Mok Danasty on a number of occasions which at the same time was inclined to lay in. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
7 Akeli Sword (S H Huang) -For some distance leaving the 1300 metres was inclined to lay out despite the efforts of its rider. Trainer M C Tam was informed that a warning is being issued on 7 Akeli Sword in relation to its racing manners.
8 Rose Hero (K F Choi) -Leaving the 300 metres was brushed by 2 Fortune Ahead on a number of occasions.
9 Mok Danasty (Apprentice X C Liang) -Near the 1150 metres was brushed by 6 Tuhao Choice which shifted out slightly. Was inclined to lay in racing down the back straight and for some distance passing the 800 metres bumped with 6 Tuhao Choice on a number of occasions, which at the same time shifted out slightly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that he would be required to present 9 Mok Danasty to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 27 February 2022. In addition he was advised that 9 Mok Danasty which had been beaten in excess of 32 lengths will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
