Race Report

RACE-5 THE CAMPINAS RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1050 METRES (198)

1 Blue Glory (Apprentice X C Liang) -Near the 650 metres was eased when racing in restricted room between 4 Small Waterfall which shifted out slightly and 5 Stadium which shifted in slightly when laying in. A short distance later then shifted out slightly and made contact with the hindquarters of 5 Stadium.
2 Shaibanat (M Tanaka) -Near the 800 metres had to be steadied when tightened for room between 5 Stadium and 3 Silent Height which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 3 Silent Height was issued a severe reprimand and was advised that he is to ensure that he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times.
5 Stadium (S H Huang) -Near the 650 metres had its hindquarters bumped by 1 Blue Glory.
6 Premier Choice (K F Choi) -Near the 150 metres was obliged to alter course outwards away from the heels of 8 Harbour Wisdom which shifted out under pressure before being corrected by its rider. Jockey L Corrales the rider of 8 Harbour Wisdom was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
7 Lucky Gold (B Yamzon) -Near the 700 metres had to be steadied away from the heels of 11 Victory Thunder which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey T Appie the rider of 11 Victory Thunder was issued a severe reprimand and was advised that he is to ensure that he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times.
8 Harbour Wisdom (L Corrales) -Knuckled shortly after the start.
9 Beauty Supreme (S Nakano) -Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Fantastic Friends (W H Lao) -Was slow to begin.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey K F Choi the rider of 6 Premier Choice being placed 2nd by the Judge against 8 Harbour Wisdom (L Corrales) being declared the winner alleging interference near the 150 metres. Evidence was taken from Jockey K F Choi in the presence of Mr. M C Tam the trainer of 6 Premier Choice and Jockey L Corrales in the presence of Mr. W L Ho the trainer of 8 Harbour Wisdom. It was established that near the 150 metres 6 Premier Choice was obliged to alter course outwards away from the heels of 8 Harbour Wisdom which shifted out under pressure before being corrected by its rider. After taking into consideration the beaten margin, where the incident took place and how both horses were finishing their races off, the Stewards could not be satisfied that had the interference not occurred, 6 Premier Choice would have beaten 8 Harbour Wisdom. Therefore the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placing.
